Court Operations to Resume Thursday with Parking Modifications
For March 25, 2026 , Release
Court Operations to Resume Thursday with Temporary Parking Modifications Following Fire
Floyd County Superior Court, Juvenile Court, Magistrate Court, and Probate Court operations will reopen on Thursday, March 26. Members of the public may access the courthouse parking lot by way of the Fifth Avenue bridge. Please note that Fifth Avenue past the parking lot and up to Broad Street will remain closed. When returning to the courthouse, visitors and employees should be aware that the upper half of the courthouse parking lot is closed, fenced off, and inaccessible.
The Sixth Avenue parking deck will also be open and may be accessed via Sixth Avenue. We are also working to arrange a courtesy shuttle for those who may have difficulty walking from the Sixth Avenue parking deck to the courthouse, especially during the early morning and late afternoon hours when employees are arriving and leaving.
After discussions with the county manager, the sheriff and his staff, the facilities supervisor, and others, several temporary parking adjustments have been put in place:
- The lower half of the courthouse parking lot will be reserved for public parking only. The one-hour parking limit will be enforced.
- No courthouse employees may park in the courthouse parking lot. This includes judges, constitutional officers, deputies, investigators, and those who previously held permits for parking on the upper lot next to the wall.
- The Fourth Avenue and Sixth Avenue parking decks will be available for all courthouse employees.
- The reserved spaces, painted red on the main floor of the Sixth Avenue parking deck, should be used only by employees with permits.
We ask for everyone to be patient as these temporary changes are put into effect. Floyd County is doing its best to accommodate everyone, with special attention to serving the public during this difficult time.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we navigate these challenges together.
