Floyd County 4-H Wins at District Competition; 1 Moves on to State Congress
Local 4-H Members compete and win big in: Performing Arts; Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors; and Hospitality, Tourism, and Food Industry Management

Almost 500 7th through 12th grade youth from over 30 counties gathered at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in Eatonton, GA for the Northwest District Project Achievement (DPA). Floyd County was represented by eleven youth in various project areas. Floyd County 4-H also was honored to have Kylan Ferrel complete his term as the Northwest District Vice President.
Those participating in DPA are able to refine their leadership, research, and public speaking skills while competing to continue to the state level. In addition to the soft skills developed, youth are able to gain a deep understanding about their selected project area.
One senior (9th-12th grade) winner from each of the project area will receive Master 4-H’er status at Georgia 4-H State Congress in Atlanta, GA this summer. Tabitha Smith will continue on to State Congress to represent Floyd County 4-H in July.

- Kylan Ferrell (Darlington)-5th place in Performing Arts - Vocal
- Vernessa Lucas (Pepperell Middle)-5th place in Health
- Abby Moon (Model High)-2nd place in Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors
- Joe Rutledge (Rome High)-3rd place in Environmental Science
- Easton Selman (Darlington) – 2nd. Place Food Lab: Better Breakfast
- Emma Selman (Darlington)-3rd place in International
- Eva Singh (Model High)-3rd place in General Recreation
- Finley Smith (Georgia Cyber Academy)-4th place in Food Lab: Festive Foods for Health
- Tabitha Smith (Georgia Cyber Academy) -1st place in Hospitality, Tourism, and Food Industry Management
