Proposal to reconstruct and rehabilitate substandard sidewalk, bridge railings and structural deficiencies of Broad Street Bridge, and similar deficiencies at Unity Point, including its riverbank.

These projects located at or near the confluence of the Etowah and Oostanaula Rivers are unique features with scenic views and a historically significant arch span bridge. The existing facilities provide transportation connectivity for vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists on boat our street and trail systems. Erosion from river flow and deterioration by other natural aging processes necessitate rehab to preserve these valuable resources.

Status Updates

10.21.2025 - Tri Scapes Construction is substantially complete with the Unity Point construction. A ribbon cutting has tentatively been scheduled for October 29. The Bridge Feasibility Study for the South Broad Bridge has been completed by Heath and Lineback. The City will work with GDOT to research options and opportunities for bridge rehabilitation and replacement in the future.
