Animal Control / Public Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.)
Public Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.) is responsible for all animal control operations including field operations, shelter management and care, and the animal adoption/rescue program for Floyd County Animal Control (P.A.W.S.).
Our Mission
- To shelter lost, unwanted and neglected animals
- To prevent suffering and provide healthcare services to sheltered animals
- To provide comprehensive adoption and rescue programs
- To prevent human injuries and the spread of disease by humanely capturing and containing animals deemed a hazard to the community
- To assist members of the community in becoming more responsible at pet ownership by creating public education programs and providing helpful information
- To consistently work to improve our performance through education and by putting forth dedication to our mission
- When unavoidable, to humanely provide euthanasia
