Clocktower Structural Repair - SPLOST

The City of Rome Clock Tower was constructed in 1872 atop a water tank which was constructed in 1871. The clock tower is framed with wood elements and is primarily supported by the 26 ft. diameter iron water tank. The clock tower was partially rebuilt after a fire in the 1890s and the clock tower and water tower have each undergone multiple repair programs. There is an insufficient lateral system throughout the clock tower that has led to an observed leaning of the tower. This project includes historic preservation and restoration of Rome's most recognizable landmark.
