Mission:

  • Prepare youth with resilience by teaching emergency preparedness skills and knowledge that will empower them to help their community. 
  • Bolster the volunteer force of Floyd County Emergency Management with skilled workers who have been trained in safety and emergency assistance. 
  • Supplement public safety recruiting in Rome and Floyd County by providing youth with access, knowledge and skills required for emergency support functions. 

Program participants will:

  • Build confidence, discipline, teamwork and social skills
  • Gain first-hand knowledge of the duties, responsibilities and challenges of public safety
  • Receive valuable classroom instruction and hands-on training
  • Discover if there is a career for you in public safety 

Requirements:

  • Must be 14 years old
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA
  • No criminal history
  • No excessive discipline from school

Meetings are scheduled in advance and distributed to participants and parents. All meetings, unless otherwise noted, are from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and held at Floyd County Emergency Management, located at 407 East 12th Street, Rome, GA 30162.
