Rights-of-Way

The Drainage crews cut trees, limbs, brush and grass along the county’s rights-of-way to help ensure unobstructed lines of sight for motorists. They also join forces with other Public Works employees in responding to community needs during and following rain, wind, snow or ice storms.

Right of way Herbicide Application

Some 300 miles of right-of-way along county roads are sprayed with herbicide three times each year. The spraying reduces the growth of plants that otherwise would obstruct the motorists’ line of sight. Grounds Maintenance takes cares of all seasonal plantings around almost every County government facility. These plantings, including the "Welcome to Rome/Floyd County" signs, help make Floyd County more attractive year round.
